DuraGran

DuraGran has made small, durable, coatable,
free-flowing granules a reality!

Wet granulation is commonly used in the Pharmaceutical industry to produce granulations for oral solid dosage forms. The process joins together one or more ingredients with a binder to enhance flow characteristics, content uniformity, compressibility, and other physical characteristics of the material. Typically, the granulation particle size distribution required for this is not extremely narrow and usually contains a significant percentage of undesirable fines and coarse particles. Today's trend toward dosage forms with a higher percentage of APIs, extended release formulations, and granule taste-masking applications requires a narrow particle size distribution with good flowability which is often difficult to achieve with traditional wet granulation methods (click here).

Formulations/Products that could benefit from the DuraGran method:

•  Fast dissolve tablets where a small, durable, taste-masked granule is desired

•  Typical tablet formulations where fines cause flow or other problems

•  Products requiring a smaller granule than can be produced on an
   extruder/spheronizer or rotor granulator

•  Products currently manufactured on an extruder/spheronizer or rotor    granulator where significantly higher production throughputs are desired

•  Any formulation requiring small, durable granules that flow well

•  Formulations with API loading as high as 90-95%

•  Products marketed as capsules rather than tablets due to tablet capping or
disintegration problems resulting in higher prices to the consumer
