DuraGran

Test Results

Five of the many trial runs conducted by PharmPro are shown below. The results for Granulations A, B, C and E present a comparison of the DuraGran method to a traditional high shear fluid bed dried and dry milled granulation method. Each granulation batch was subdivided into many runs including the traditional method and multiple runs using the DuraGran method. All runs of a given granulation emanated from the same high shear mixer batch.

Only one run produced by the DuraGran method from batch A, B and C is presented herein for easy comparison to the traditional method. The results of Granulation D are presented to show how the DuraGran method can be controlled in such a manner to shift the mean particle size of the granulation thus allowing the process developer to fine tune the size of the granulation by changing the process equipment's operating parameters. The results of an APAP granulation (E) show both a comparison to the traditional method, and a course and fine run.

The compositions of five of the granulation runs are as follows:

Particle size distribution is presented as raw data, histogram, and plots on Pro Mesh paper. Click here to learn how to read pro mesh graphs.

Other strong indicators of the benefits of the DuraGran method are the test results for density and flowability. For density data click here, for flowability data click here.
